Kingkiller Chronicles - A Possible New Fantasy Movie?

Not since J.R.R Tolkien's Lord of The Rings have any newepic fantasy movie that has dominate the box office and as a epic fantasy book reader, I been thing thinking which among the latest fantasy books can Hollywood adapt into a movie and then came to mind Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles.

For the those who don't know, the Kingkiller Chronicles telling the autobiography of Kvothe (pronounced like "Quothe" but with a v), an adventurer, arcanist, and famous musician. The plot is divided into two different action threads: the present, where Kvothe tells the story of his life to Devan Lochees (known as Chronicler) and Kvothe's past, where most of the story is located.

Having reading the first two books, The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear, the story has some elements of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series (during the time when the protagonist tell his story during his time on the university learning the "arcane arts) and some impression of Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire (the concept of the protagonist telling his autobiography).

I'm not sure if any Hollywood film production has acquired any film right to this story but surely enough once mr. Rothfuss complete the the trilogy, it won't be long that a film adaptation will be on the works.

I'd like to see it turned into a television series like 'Game of Thrones'. It'd be a great property for Showtime or Starz. I think Damien Lewis would be amazing as Kote.

I'd structure a TV series like lost. Every episode would have two main storylines. Sometimes it'll be a back and forth between past and present. Other episodes would be set entirely in the past (with narration by older Kvothe) with the B storyline taken up by one of the many stories within the story.

I don't know if we'll ever see a series/film or not. But I do hope that, when the third book comes out, Patrick sets out to write the life story of Lanre. The only thing that sucks about KC is that Haliax only appears in that one scene (two if you count the story teller's Lanre origin story.) I want to know more about him!

Right now, I'm guessing that Lanre and Bast are the two characters most likely to get follow up novels. I'd love to know what the Chandrian were like when they were young. I don't think they're out for world domination. My guess is that they're trying to stop the Scrael from manifesting but they need all seven of them to do it. If Kvothe killed Cinder, then that's how he screwed up the world. Who knows? Perhaps Kvothe was supposed to become the next Chandrian and help them seal the scrael. We don't know for sure if the six who serve Haliax have been with him since the beginning. I suspect some of them were killed by the Amyr, along the way, and were replaced. If Kvothe was supposed to be the next member then that explains why he went underground. He couldn't bear to work with the people who so ruthlessly murdered his tribe, even if it's to save the world. If Kvothe killed Cinder, then it's entirely likely that the Chandrian want revenge. But what if it's Kvothe destiny to become the last Chandrian before they fulfill their purpose? Just some food for thought.

As of now we can only speculate what happens next as book 3 is still in the works. But once the book 3 is done I won't be surprise that this trilogy will be adapted into a film similar to Lord of the ring. Making this as TV show is a bit of a stretch since the story ends at book 3.
